Microbiology Technician (Maternity Cover)

This role involves ensuring that all incoming raw materials and finished product are of a microbiological acceptable standard that has been set by the Company, food industry and customers; informing relevant departments of the results using the IT system; assisting in monitoring the microbiological status of the factory and staff and alerting any microbiological problems.

Key Responsbilites

• Check and test all incoming raw materials
• Ensure all finished product is pathogen-free
• Ensuring that the correct documentation and certificates of analysis are received from suppliers with every delivery
• Assessing liquor samples
• Carrying out various analytical requests for production, sales or complaint enquiries
• Supporting problem solving activities in production using analytical techniques
• Calibrating laboratory equipment
• Setting up sensory analysis sessions 
• Swab factory environment
• Ensure all products are tested in line with customer requirements
• Provide a sufficient stock of media/ agar to ensure smooth running of the lab
• Monitor instruments used in the laboratory to ensure accuracy and efficiency
• Help maintain a clean working environment
• Use the IT system to facilitate the clearance of products for raw material and dispatch, recording results of analysis to SAP
• Generate certificates for customer requirements

About you

• At least 2 years’ experience working in a Microbiological laboratory environment 

• Knowledge of basic hygiene
• Excellent attention to detail
• Effective problem solving abilities
• Computer literate 
• Effective communication skills
• Works well within a team
• Able to effectively prioritise workload
• Ability to take responsibility and work on own initiative
• Self-motivation

• Willing to listen and learn

You would be expected to work on a rotating shit pattern of 6:00am to 2:00pm and 2:00pm to 10:00pm
