About the role:

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join our Additional Support Department. As a Teaching Assistant you will play a pivotal role in the success of the students through:

Assisting with classroom preparation, maintenance, and use of teaching materials, collaborate with colleagues, and maintain confidentiality. Promoting and supporting the inclusion of all students in learning activities. Providing support to students with special educational needs, as well as other students as directed by the Learning Area Lead or Manager. Administering first aid or medication according to college procedures. Attending to students’ educational, personal, and social needs, incorporating these into the learning experience. This may involve assisting with toileting, hygiene, dressing, and feeding.

About you:

Previous experience of working with young people (including raising own children or voluntary work) Understanding the needs of young people in an educational setting Ability to work collaboratively with others Basic IT skills, or willingness to acquire basic IT skills Willingness to be flexible Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion Ability to meet the physical needs of the students Willingness to undertake appropriate training

Desirable

Educated to GCSE level in relevant subjects GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English NVQ Level 2 in relevant subject First aid trained, or willing to train as a first aider Experience of working in an educational setting

About The Bedford College Group

The Bedford College Group was formed in 2017 following the merger of Bedford College and Tresham College and is now the largest provider of education in the South East Midlands, with over 15,000 students passing through our doors each year.
