A little bit about what we are looking for...

We have an exciting opportunity for a Surveying Manager to join our developing and growing Repairs team in the London & South East. You will be providing a high quality technical service that provides an efficient response to customer enquiries, in line with statutory and legal obligation and corporate policies. Utilising the team to provide an effective customer centric service to residents and to pursue an excellent service from our repair contractors.

When you aren't onsite, this role can offer hybrid working, meaning you will be required to be in the office for 2 days a week with the rest being from home, however we may need you to be in the office more within your probation and whilst you get up to speed. Please also be aware, this role will require you to be on an out of hours rota.


Your responsibilities...

  • Lead, manage, motivate and develop a team of repairs surveyors by ensuring effective application of performance management to include delivery of targets
  • Provide leadership, advice and guidance to the team, contractors and subcontractors
  • Ensure via effective management of staff that surveyors are owning work and providing proactive communication to residents and this is evidenced on the organisations CRM system
  • Own and manage disrepair cases to a successful conclusion
  • Effectively manage PA Housings contractors to ensure they deliver a consistent, high quality maintenance service in all areas of service delivery
  • Ensure all Section 20 requirements for work are adhered to
  • Own and resolve complaints within target times and implement learning gained from those complaints to improve the service
  • Safeguard your teams by using and monitoring appropriate lone working devices
  • Ensure PA Housings contractors deliver a maintenance service that is high quality, ensuring PA’s housing stock is maintained to good standards, achieving the highest client satisfaction whilst providing value for money through qualitative pre and post inspections
  • Demonstrate use of specialised/technical tools /processes/analysis to solve a wide range of routine and novel problems
  • Challenge the performance of PA’s contractor’s in all aspects of service delivery including quality of works, value for money, efficiency and adherence to priorities, work programmes and appointment procedures

Our ideal candidate...

  • HNC or similar Qualification or the ability to demonstrate suitable experience to meet the requirements of this role
  • Knowledge of housing maintenance, repair specifications, diagnosing defects and remedial works
  • Knowledge of key health & safety issues such as CDM, asbestos, and all other regulations relating to the delivery of maintenance work
  • Knowledge of managing and supervising maintenance works
  • Good working knowledge of NHF Schedule of Rates
  • Ability to work at height and access lofts or confined spaces
  • Experience of scheduling building / planned maintenance works and contract administration


Disclosure and Barring Service:

This role of requires the successful candidate to complete a basic DBS check. A basic DBS check will show any unspent convictions.

So why do we need to know this information? This role will be required to visit / support PA Housing residents in their own homes on a regular basis. Therefore we have a duty to our residents to ensure that we have taken precautions regarding who will be visiting them and representing PA Housing.
