Job Description

Purpose

Are you passionate about vehicles and their impact on the environment? Are you excited about the future of cleaner combustion, hybrid and electric vehicles? If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for you as a Chassis Dynamometer Vehicle Emissions Test Technician. In this role, you will be at the forefront of testing and analysing the emissions performance of cutting-edge vehicles. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that these vehicles meet regulatory standards while also contributing to a greener and more sustainable future.

The role is based on a 40hr week with early and late shifts and the possibility of overtime. All testing will be performed within our 4WD light duty emissions facility for light duty and small commercial vehicles, our Variable Temperature Emissions Chamber (VTEC2) for heavy duty vehicles or using Portable Emissions Measurement Systems (PEMS).

Responsibilities

Conduct chassis dynamometer emissions tests on combustion, hybrid and electric vehicles Perform pre-test vehicle inspections to ensure they meet test requirements Set up test equipment, including instrumentation and data acquisition systems Monitor test procedures to ensure accurate and reliable data collection Analyse emissions test results using specialized software tools Identify any issues or anomalies during testing and troubleshoot accordingly Maintain accurate records of all tests performed Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative testing methodologies Stay up-to-date with industry trends and regulations related to vehicle emissions testing

Qualifications

Qualifications

GSCE grades or equivalent Mechanical/PC qualification Engineering apprenticeship related to motor vehicles (preferred)

Competencies and behaviours:

Prior experience as a Chassis Dynamometer Vehicle Emissions Test Technician or similar role is highly desirable but not necessary Knowledge of combustion, hybrid and electric vehicle technology Familiarity with chassis dynamometer systems, instrumentation, and data acquisition tools A keen eye for detail and good analytical skills to interpret test results accurately Excellent problem-solving abilities to address any technical issues during testing A passion for environmental sustainability and reducing vehicle emissions An enthusiastic team player with excellent communication skills Flexibility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic testing environment Customer focused with a high level of confidentiality and integrity

Other:

Due to environmental test conditions candidate must pass full annual medical Flexibility to travel as and when required Full UK driving licence & own transport (UTAC Millbrook is not easily assessable via public transport) SC clearance or ability to achieve this (UK national with residency in the UK for the last 5 years) Willing to undergo a Criminal Disclosure check NOTE: This position be will based on site
