This is a permanent, full time role and will be based at Glasgow Airport but with regular travel to the AGS airport portfolio and some possible international travel.

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Commercial team at AGS Airports and help shape the Group’s aviation development strategy.

The Airline Business Development Analyst will play an important role in identifying new route and airline opportunities across our three airports Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton. Using their analysis of the market to form robust business cases and recommendations, they will support the aviation development team to deliver and grow airline revenue sustainably.

The ideal candidate will have clear analytical capability, demonstrate strong commercial acumen and be able to communicate effectively. A background in commercial aviation is desirable, while an understanding of basic economics and a curiosity to understand the world of aviation are both essential.

Principle accountabilities

  • Perform regular analysis of airline performance and market trends to identify new revenue opportunities across all three airports
  • Build and update each airport’s aviation development strategy, highlighting and prioritising key airline targets for AGS to improve its profitability
  • Create comprehensive business cases for new routes and airlines, supported by strong analysis and a sound understanding of each airline’s commercial drivers
  • Deliver clear, concise and convincing storylines and recommendations to prospective airlines
  • Maintain relationships with external data and analytics providers, working closely with the AGS data team to evaluate new functionality and identify new sources of data
  • Collaborate with AGS finance teams to model airline revenue and understand the influences of financial performance. Review airline contracts and identify improvements which align with AGS strategic goals
  • Present at external meetings with airlines and relevant stakeholders both in the UK and abroad including conferences and events such as Routes
  • Represent the aviation development team in cross-departmental meetings and projects

Qualifications and experience

  • Highly numerate and analytical, able to review and interpret complex data from multiple data sources and turn into accurate and meaningful summaries
  • Strong commercial acumen, with a solid understanding of financial and economic concepts
  • Proactive problem solver, able to think critically and take ownership of decision making
  • Excellent organisational skills, able prioritise workload and manage various stakeholders; experience of working to tight deadlines and responding to changing environments
  • Effective at building strong stakeholder relationships while influencing at all levels of an organisation, both internally and externally
  • Strong verbal and written presentation skills; able to communicate effectively and succinctly
  • Proven experience of Microsoft Office products, including the ability to use Excel and PowerPoint at advanced levels
  • Experience in the commercial aviation industry preferable; awareness and a passion for understanding the industry essential
