Job summary

Nottingham University Hospitals Trust has an exciting opportunity to recruit a Deputy Medical Director due to retirement. We are seeking a driven individual dedicated to making a difference to patient care and staff satisfaction.

Interviews will be held week commencing 9th December 2024.

Main duties of the job

The successful post holder will work to support the Medical Director to deliver high quality care by providing senior clinical leadership capability and capacity. Along with other Deputies, your portfolio will cover to deputise for the Medical Director. You will have the opportunity to hold professional portfolio responsibilities including external partnerships, development of consultants, medical leaders, locally employed doctors and medical mentorship. The post holder will work closely with the DPME in the ABC wellbeing programme. The Medical Director is supported by a team to include PA support.

Remuneration will be in accordance with seniority on the Consultant contract. The role comprises 5 PAs for the DMD post and 5 clinical PAs for a full time 10PA post with a responsibility allowance

Person Specification

Training & Qualifications

Essential

Consultants or Specialty Doctors/ Associate Specialists with at least 3 years' experience in a substantive role Full Registration with GMC without any conditions or restrictions on licence to practise Evidence of participation in annual appraisal Evidence of training in medical mentoring/ coaching

Desirable

Formal management/leadership or education qualification Formal mentoring/coaching qualification Experience of being mentored or coached Membership of FMLM

Experience

Essential

Leadership experience with evidence of successful implementation of change/innovation Experience in mentoring and/or coaching

Desirable

Experience in a senior educational role eg TPD, College Tutor or equivalent Experience as a medical appraiser Experience/knowledge of medical recruitment and candidate assessment/selection methodology
