GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team at a primary school in Hexham. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young learners, helping them to achieve their potential in a nurturing and supportive environment.
Responsibilities as a SEMH Teaching Assistant (Primary):
- Support the SEMH Teaching Assistant (Primary) team in delivering tailored educational activities.
- Assist in managing challenging behaviour and promoting positive behaviour strategies.
- Work closely with the class teacher to ensure each pupil receives individual attention and support.
- Help create a safe and inclusive classroom environment.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to pupils with SEMH needs.
- Monitor and report on pupil progress and behaviour to the teaching staff.
To be a successful SEMH Teaching Assistant (Primary), you need:
- Experience working with children with SEMH needs is desirable.
- A patient, understanding, and compassionate approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- A commitment to supporting children’s learning and wellbeing.
- Have an updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
