What you'll do

This role will see you join a team of Scientists who are responsible for reporting on wastewater compliance for the business. The team's work is varied and we work flexibly to support and help each other out where necessary.

As part of this role, you will contribute to the work of the wastewater regulation team to ensure that regulatory requirements and deadlines are met.

You will use your knowledge of wastewater regulation to provide advice to the wider business on wastewater compliance. This will support the business to maintain compliance with environmental permits. 

Day to day, your role will include: 

analysing and processing compliance data writing reports related to site compliance and pollution events liaising with external parties including regulators providing advice on wastewater regulation and permit requirements to the business assisting with regulatory work as necessary within the wastewater regulation.

What you'll need

Effective communication is key to this role, both within the team and the wider business, to enable efficient workload management, promote the learning and sharing of information, and ensure team priorities are met.

You will also be required to provide sound advice and guidance on wastewater environmental regulations and compliance.

You will be able to work independently and request support when required. You will be expected to manage and prioritise your workload to meet regulatory deadlines.

To work effectively, you will need to be a team player who is flexible and willing to get stuck in to help deliver the team requirements.

Strong written communication and data processing skills are fundamental to this role. Experience in report writing would also be beneficial, as you will be required to translate technical information and scientific data into clear and concise reports for the regulator and the business.

To be able to effectively deliver your reporting, you will need to have good knowledge of Microsoft Office products, such as Word and Excel. Experience using GIS software, laboratory data systems such as Scientific Systems, and operational systems such as ScopeX/Prism would be beneficial but is not essential as relevant training and support will be given.

You will either have experience in a scientific field or a degree in a science or related subject. 

You will preferably have experience of one or more of the following: 

working within an operational role in the water industry a good technical understanding of wastewater activities operating within a regulatory advisory role data analysis and processing knowledge of wastewater regulation.

The desire to effectively contribute to the team is the most important requirement and we can provide suitable training and development for the successful candidate.
