Job summary

The post holder will contribute to the provision of healthcare by providing a comprehensive and confidential support secretarial service to the Paediatric Departments at Neath Port Talbot and Morriston Hospitals.

The post holder may be expected to work on other hospital sites to ensure appropriate service cover at all times; this may include cross site working/cross cover with other departments within the Children & Young People Division.

Following appropriate systems, procedures, policies and processes, ensuring efficient and accurate typing skills are performed and that timely communication is carried out to allow the patients to experience a smooth journey at all times.

The post holder will be required to manage their own workload and therefore act independently.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Paediatric team. We are looking to recruit 1 x 24 hours post working across two sites (Morriston and Neath Port Talbot Hospital).

Paediatrics is a busy, exciting department constantly developing and improving the service provided to patients. We are looking to engage an Assistant Medical Secretary with sound secretarial and excellent typing skills to join our friendly team and take on this busy and varied post.

The successful applicant will become an integral part of the efficient Paediatric team providing secretarial support to a number of clinical staff.

A sound knowledge of medical terminology and experience in the use of hospital IT systems would be an advantage as well as an understanding of patient pathways. It is preferable that applicants have recent previous experience within a comparable role.
