Job summary

This is an ideal opportunity for a committed and experienced clinician to join our Children's Community Service as a Band 6 Occupational Therapist. This is a community post across the urban and rural communities of Gloucestershire.

As an Occupational Therapist you would be a key part of our community team, providing assessment, goal planning and reviews, working alongside a multi- agency team to enable our patients to gain their maximum level of independence in their own homes and schools.

You will need to be a car driver - Independent means of travel are essential for this role.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced, flexible and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our Children's community service. This is a community post across the county of Gloucestershire , working with children with neurological, neurodiverse and developmental conditions. Candidates should have a good variety of clinical experience and be committed to providing the highest standard of assessment and treatment.

The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills, will enjoy working with children , their families and carers and enjoy working in a team. The applicant will also be able to support junior staff and support staff.

The work will primarily involve a combination of clinic based assessments and visits to a child's home and school.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To work as a Band 6 Childrens' Occupational Therapist in the CYPS (Children and Young Persons Service) Childrens' OT Service. To work with children with physical disabilities, cognitive impairment and complex social and community needs, who are experiencing occupational performance difficulties within and around their home or school environment.

To work as an integral member of the CYPS OT Service to provide a service through holistic assessment , collaborative goal setting and the delivering and evaluating of intervention to children in their homes or schools. The assessment may be clinic based or in the child's home/school. To use a recognised model of practice to underpin all practice Assess and treat own caseload of patients/clients. The post holder will provide supervision and support to registered OTs, OT assistants as appropriate. Provide occupational therapy advice to other disciplines May participate in departmental research
