Job summary

An exciting vacancy has arisen to join the Clinical Engineering team at Hywel Dda University Health Board.

The Clinical Engineering Department delivers medical equipment management services throughout the University Health Board.

The department provides a broad range of complex, routine and non-routine activities including servicing, repair, calibration, safety testing, quality assurance, evaluation, commissioning, decommissioning, planned preventive maintenance of clinical equipment and devices.

We currently have a vacancy for a Band 5 Healthcare Science Practitioner/Clinical Technologist. The successful candidate will become part of a team, specialising in servicing, maintaining and managing a wide range of medical equipment based in Bronglais Hospital, (although the post-holder will be expected to carry out their duties across the University Health Board as necessary).

You will have a UK accredited Science Degree or equivalent in electrical/electronic engineering or significant relevant experience and will be able to clearly demonstrate significant technical training and experience in the support of a broad range of medical equipment. Specific training on a range of medical devices will be provided. Computer literacy along with excellent team working and communication skills will be required.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a member of the clinical engineering team and will be required to largely work on own initiative, carrying out preventive maintenance and inspections along with problem solving on a wide range of complex equipment .

BSc in Clinical Technology or Electronic/Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification / experience in Electronics/Clinical Engineering Evidence of continuous professional development in relevant sphere Eligibility for membership of Register of Clinical Technologists

Anatomy & physiology training Ventilator & anaesthetic technical training

Experience

Essential

Sufficient experience and in a clinical engineering setting Organisational, interpersonal and operational skills needed for post management of resources planning and delivery of service provision Ability to produce written and verbal reports pertinent to the post technical documentation

Desirable

Sufficient post registration, most recently in a specialty dealing with ventilation / CPAP / anaesthetics
