Job summary

The Walsall PCN Networks are recruiting for several Nurse Associates to cover multiple Walsall PCNs.

The post holder will assist the GPs and Practice NurseTeam in the delivery of the care management of the practice population.

The post holder will work under indirect supervision of the PCN ClinicalDirector / GP / Nursing Team within each GP practice and undertake tasks andduties delegated by the GP Practices within the PCN or a suitably qualifiedregulated professional.

They will work collaboratively with the generalpractice team to meet the needs of patients, following policies and procedureswhile providing supervision to more junior staff such as apprentices.

Main duties of the job

Demonstratesensitive communication styles to ensure patients are fully informed andconsent to treatment.

Communicateeffectively with patients and carers, recognising the need for alternativemethods of communication to overcome different levels of understanding,cultural background and preferred ways of communicating.

Anticipatebarriers to communication and take action to improve communication.

Estimateand maintain effective communication with individuals and groups within thepractice.

Allstaff should recognise the importance of effective communication within theteam and will strive to.

Job responsibilities

Undertake, record and follow guidelines for the tasksfor which you have received appropriate training:

Urinalysis and preparation of specimens forinvestigation by the pathology laboratory

Measuring and recording following physiologicalmeasurements in routine presentations:

bloodpressure

pulserate and rhythm

temperature

heightand weight - body mass index

venepuncture

ECG

glucosetolerance test

peakflow readings

inhalertechnique

spirometry

NHSHealth Checks

Diabeticchecks

flu/pneumovaccinations

shingles& nasal flu immunisations

earirrigation

ARTPSpirometry ( following accredited training).

Support and monitor patients during nebulisationtherapy.

Undertake and interpret Spirometry under indirectsupervision.

Undertake and interpret Reversibility studies tosupport the diagnosis of common respiratory conditions.

Prepare and maintain environments and equipmentbefore, during and after patient care interventions.

Assist regulated professional while patientsundergoing minor surgery.

Assist in raising awareness of health and well-being,and how it can be promoted.

Give accurate and appropriate information to patientsand groups within own competence.

Undertake simple dressing procedures following localrecommendations and using aseptic techniques.

Where appropriate, provide support and encouragementto self-manage their conditions.

Have a basic understanding of long term conditionsincluding diagnostic.

> Has undertaken the 2 year Foundation Degree Nursing Associate course. > Registered with the NMC and revalidation is undertaken in line with NMC requirements. > Has a minimum of GCSE Maths and English (A to C) or Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English.
