Main duties of the job
We have exciting opportunities for Sisters / Charge Nurses to come and join our team across the infectious diseases, renal and short stay area within the medicine specialty at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS).
We have permanent full & part time vacancies on ward C5 (14 bedded purpose-built infectious diseases unit, caring for patients with a variety of illnesses and E12 (newly built 24 bedded ward, caring for patients with both renal disease and short stay acute cases).

What you'll do
You will be acting as a role model for nursing staff, encouraging effective working relationships and the development of a cohesive nursing team. You will be responsible for assisting the Senior Sister in the management of the ward for a 24-hour period ensuring high standards of care are maintained.

We are looking for individuals, who are strong leaders that are highly motivated and have excellent communication skills. The sister/charge nurse role requires a close working relationship with the multi-professional team to ensure that evidenced based quality care is delivered with compassion to every patient. Qualified Nurse (Degree/Diploma) Registered nurse on appropriate part of the register Significant post registration experience / qualification / training, including experience and knowledge within relevant speciality Ward management experience Knowledge of current issues within acute Health Service Experience in an acute hospital setting Provide evidence of supporting / managing a range of learners in practice Provide evidence of supporting colleagues to promote effective learning in practice Ability to demonstrate clinical decision making and judgement Commitment to the post and Care Group responsibilities Commitment to continuing professional development
