Position

An opportunity has arisen for an Acute Pain Nurse based at University Hospital Ayr.

What you will do:

An exciting 1 year fixed term opportunity has arisen for an Acute Pain Nurse Post within Surgical Services at University Hospital Ayr.

Please note, if you do not meet the criteria for a band 7, you may be considered for this role as a band 6.

You will need to be focused, highly motivated, and have experience of working collaboratively with different multidisciplinary teams to facilitate and co-ordinate care to achieve maximum patient safety. 

This involves the management of patients with acute pain after surgery, as well as acute pain associated with medical conditions, as well as complex acute-on-chronic pain or opioid misuse whilst in hospital. They will also be involved with supporting peri-operative analgesic rationalisation and opioid reduction after surgery.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

You will provide guidance, support and expertise to nursing and medical staff within the area, maintaining an effective learning environment.

You will have evidence of relevant professional development and education at or aiming towards first degree level along with the specified qualifications required to practice in this post.

A range of postregistration experience, two of which must be at a senior level within an acute surgical environment and able to demonstrate the appropriate competencies and skills for the role.

Working towards Masters Level with a Degree/Specialist Qualification or equivalent experience.
