Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic clinical support worker to support the radiology service at Westmorland General Hospital.

The post will be full time at 30 hours per week. Days and hours to be decided but will include some Bank Holiday work.

Applicants will be expected to be well organised, have an interest in patient care, good communication skillsandfamiliarity with ITsystems.Ideally you will have experience of relevant work in a healthcare environment and have a level 3 NVQ or equivalent in healthcare.

Main duties of the job

Duties will mainly be supporting the radiographers in clinical duties in X-ray, screening, and ultrasound, and will include supporting in sterile procedures and venepuncture. You will also be involved in the smooth and efficient running of these services including some admin and clerical duties, for example making appointments on the computerised Radiology Information System.

To assist Consultant Radiologists, Consultant Radiographers,Advanced Practitioners and Radiographers in non radiographictasks that ensure the timely delivery of diagnostic imaging prepare sterile/non sterile trolleys unassisted for variousprocedures sterile procedures and biopsies and assist with theprocedureTo input accurately patients details, using the radiology computersystem, and PACS.

About us

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
