If so, we invite your application for the role of Practitioner Psychologist in the Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (CRHTT).

Although the post is full time, applications for part time and flexible working are also encouraged.

Due to a recent promotion a vacant post has become available at the Oleaster centre. You would be joining a small supportive team of four other psychologists.

You would be part of the wider Acute Psychology Service. Psychologists are strongly placed to lead on service development and delivery across all elements of the care pathway. We have an established track record in service innovation and support a diverse range of clinical and academic interests with strong links to university programmes. There is an internal CPD programme that you would have access to and there is substantial additional funding to offer external training in an area of your choosing.

Main duties of the job

The CRHTTs offer crisis assessment, crisis intervention and brief therapeutic interventions to service users experiencing a significant crisis in their mental health and psychological well being. The CRHTT teams receive a wide breadth of referrals which provides opportunities to work with and a variety of presentations using different therapeutic approaches.

The role of the Psychologist in the CRHTTs includes:

providing and encouraging the use of psychological formulations to inform overall care planning offering assessments and brief psychological interventions to service users developing the psychological skill set of the multidisciplinary team through provision of training / teaching / supervision /consultation and reflective practice liaising with other teams / services to support discharge plans / onward referrals. Service development and evaluation / audit

We are looking for enthusiastic, committed and skilled clinicians who can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, to provide a range of clinical services. The individual will have excellent opportunities to gain experience of multilevel and integrated service provision and to further develop skills of complex case assessment, formulation and the application of evidence based psychological interventions, both individual and in groups.

Qualifications

Essential

Satisfactory completion of a British Psychological Society accredited Doctoral Level postgraduate professional training course in clinical/forensic psychology completion of which includes the study of models of psychopathology, psychometric and neuropsychological assessment, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology. Eligibility for entry onto the Register of Chartered Psychologists.

Desirable

Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.

Experience

Essential

Experience of specialist psychological assessment and individual and group based treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including primary and secondary/ specialist care and inpatient/residential, outpatient and community team settings. Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, including forensic contexts with clients of all ages across the lifespan and of wide-ranging presenting problems that reflect the full spectrum of clinical complexity and severity.

Desirable

Experience of working within a multicultural framework. Experience of working therapeutically with 'difficult to treat' clients.

Knowledge

Essential

Well developed theoretical and practical knowledge of the field of clinical psychology, consistent with doctoral level professional training and further post qualification study, training and supervised experience during a minimum of 18 to 24 months as a Specialist Clinical/Forensic Psychologist. Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment commensurate with doctoral level training, including specialist clinical interviewing, behavioural observation, complex psychometric testing and specialist neuropsychological testing. Able to use psychometric tests and psychological equipment in accordance with standardised timing, stimulus presentation and response monitoring requirements. Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology. Awareness and understanding of the differential needs of people from black and minority ethnic groups and of the service issues arising within a multicultural urban area.

Desirable

Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific 'difficult to treat' groups ( personality disorder, challenging behaviour, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities etc).
