Guided by senior members of the Therapy Team you’ll progress along your career pathway with the help of our learning and development opportunities. Within the Therapy department we nurture a workforce of home-grown talent and are proud of our many staff who began their careers in Therapy Support Worker roles and have progressed into other more specialist or registrant roles.

The post is based in the Neuro rehab Service. The service delivers care across an in patient, community (Early supported discharge ESD) and out-patient pathway to provide specialist, evidence based Neuro rehab to patients. This post is based within the Neuro out patients team.

The Neuro out patient’s team support patients with Neurological diagnoses such as MS, Parkinsons disease, Stroke and other long term Neurological conditions. They work closely with the broader Neuro MDT including Consultants, Specialist Nurses and Psychologists to provide well-co-ordinated specialist services. The team see patients in a clinic setting to provide specialist assessment and advice, and formulate treatment programmes, including exercise programmes. The team are excellent at problem solving and communicating well with other agencies involved in the patients care including Social Workers and Nursing teams.

The Neuro rehab service includes the spasticity interface service where patients with spasticity are seen by highly specialist Physiotherapists who run Botulinum toxin injection clinics as well as providing adjunct physical therapy to support management of spasticity. This includes providing postural care assessment and advice, and formulating exercise programmes, as well as liaising closely with other practitioners involved in the patient’s care. We would like our Therapy Support Worker to work alongside our specialist Physiotherapist to support the smooth running of these clinics.

The Neuro outpatient service also includes a hydrotherapy service for patients with Neurological conditions, as well as running a number of exercise groups including specialist exercise groups for patients with MS and Parkinsons disease and a Neuroactive class based in a gym setting. Part of the role of our Therapy Support Worker will be to work in the hydrotherapy pool alongside the Physiotherapist and assist the classes alongside the exercise specialist running the class.

The team comprises of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, exercise specialists and rehab practitioners and we are now seeking a well-motivated, enthusiastic and compassionate Therapy Support Worker to join the team.

You will also be supported to acquire knowledge and skills within each setting that will give you a sound core competency in Stroke care and Neuro rehab.

Working hours per week, 3 days a week (working days to be confirmed), 8: - :. One weekend shift (8: - :) in every 6 weeks
