Job summary

Within a multi-disciplinary team assist in the co-ordination and delivery and development of a comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation and secondary/primary prevention programme as part of Wirral Community Cardiology Services across three main sites in Wirral.

Main duties of the job

Within a multi-disciplinary team, facilitate a comprehensive programme of exercise and education for those referred following cardiovascular event or diagnosis. The role will include managing a caseload of patients from referral though to discharge as well as the assessment of functional capacity and the prescription of exercise for a wide range of complexities. The role also involves working within the Tier 3 weight management service, delivering exercise guidance and assessment for those accessing the bariatric pathway.

Person Specification

Qualifications and professional training

Essential

Minimum of 2:1 BSc in Exercise Physiology or closely related subject

Desirable

Evidence of postgraduate study in relevant subject areas Exercise instructor qualifications Immediate Life Support qualification Member of British Association of Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation (BACPR) Ability to facilitate Exercise Tolerance Testing for diagnostic and prescriptive purposes

Experience and knowledge

Essential

Experience of facilitating group and individual exercise sessions for different client/patient groups Experience of facilitating group education sessions Knowledge of the Nursing 6 C's Up to date knowledge of national and local strategies to reduce cardiovascular disease (CVD)

Desirable

Experience of working within a cardiovascular rehabilitation setting Experience of managing a clinical caseload

Skills and atributes

Essential

Excellent communication skills Ability to work as part of a team Ability to work both under direction and independently Ability to work under pressure

Ability to record and interpret 12-lead ECGs
