Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join our cohesive and dynamic team working in Swale Minor Injury/Urgent Treatment Centres.

Our unit covers two sites, Sittingbourne and Sheppey, and you will have the opportunity to work at both sites.

We see and treat patients with a range of injuries and some minor ailments, your role would be to support the registered practitioners.

This is a satisfying and sometimes challenging role, but each day is different and it's certainly never boring

If you have an NVQ Level 3 in Health Care, are kind, compassionate, an upstander and a strong team player and have the required essential skills, then this may be the job for you

Full or Part time hours will be considered.

Main duties of the job

Your main responsibilities in this role include:

o Assisting patients,

o Recording observations

o ECG recording

o Documentation

o Suturing

o Plastering

o Wound care

o Ordering stock etc

In house training is provided for specialist skills.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

Completed level 3 NVQ in health or equivalent A willingness to undertake relevant courses / training. Basic Life Support certificate for adults and children experience Knowledge of Safeguarding Adults/Children

Desirable

Tissue Viability experience Proof of extended competencies within the role

Experience of:

Essential

The role and it's limitations. Working within a UTC or MIU / Community or Ward setting. Provision of basic patient care recognising principles of privacy, dignity and confidentiality. Working independently within agreed competencies. Responsibilities with regard to Health & Safety at work and Infection Control. Sufficient self awareness to learn from mistakes. Wound care management.

Desirable

Proven record of competencies & clinical skills Experience of stock ordering and control.

Skills

Essential

Computer literacy. Able to present information logically and precisely both written and verbal. Good interpersonal skills. Able to communicate with staff at all levels, disciplines and users of the service. Able to inspire confidence in patients and colleagues. Health Promotion skills. Handling difficult situations.

Desirable

Plaster of Paris application and knowledge Wound closure skills and knowledge

Motivated and enthusiastic. Good sense of humour. Committed to patient focused care. Team player. Good organisational skills, which include: time management and the ability to prioritise workload. Able to work flexibly in order to meet the needs of the service. Ability to perform specific tasks independently.
