The Open University (OU) are looking for a hardworking, forward-thinking digital minded apprentice to study and work with the OU. This is an exciting opportunity to work for and continue your study with the UK’s largest University, a pioneer in opening accessible education for all.
The OU are looking to take on 1 Cyber Security Technologist Apprentice for an initial 24-month period. The role offers a permanent role upon completion of the apprenticeship depending on performance.

Training to be provided:
Firebrand’s sector leading Level 4 Cyber Security Technologist (L4CST) Apprenticeship Programme trains the apprentice to implement a series of technical, procedural, and physical controls to monitor, detect and respond to a wide range of cyber security threats and maintain business continuity.
The apprentice will learn about cyber risk and mitigation with a focus on maintaining the confidentiality, integrity and availability of digital data. They will use their skills and experiences to feed into policy decisions of a cyber security awareness culture within the business.
The apprentice will receive a thorough understanding of current and future technologies, threat analysis techniques and controls used to mitigate or remediate cyber security risks.
Firebrands course is delivered either Online (online live instructor led), or face to face in the classroom environment. Our Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Learning Mentors (LMs) and world-leading trainers prepare apprentices to work across multiple sectors.
Completion of this apprenticeship will provide learners with the following world class vendor certifications in addition to the Cyber Security Technician apprenticeship:
BCS Certificate of Information Security Management Principles (CISMP) CompTIA Network+ CompTIA Security+ EC Council Certified Network Defender (CND)Key areas covered are:
Foundations of technical, procedural, and physical security Data protection Risk management Threat detection and analysis Cyber Security concepts Employment of cryptography Legal, regulatory, and ethical responsibilitySkills and experience
Do you possess 5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths) Do you possess excellent team working skills, with the ability to collaborate successfully? Can you display excellent oral & written communications skills, as well as strong attention to detail? Do you have great working knowledge of Microsoft office packages?
