approximately 50 countries in Europe and beyond some 13,000 colleagues are employed by DHL Freight

Our customs office specializes in Scandinavian Road freight forwarding and groupage on behalf of DHL. The candidate must have a pro-active approach to workload and will be able to work to tight deadlines. Performance is monitored by weekly KPI's. 

In the role of customs clerk, you will be responsible for the following:

Processing import and export customs entries using our in-house system Cargowise via CDS or CHIEF Understanding transport documents such as T1’s, CMR’s, commercial invoices, B/L & AWB’s. Competing customs entries via external software such as channel ports  Audits Billing Invoices Raising T1’s and various other documents Ensuring T1 documents are discharged Completing relevant customs training and ensuring up to date with customs regulations at all times. Competency with external websites such as CNS / Destin8 / CCS UK Liaising with accounts to ensure duty & VAT is paid promptly Reporting any non-compliances to your manager Dealing directly with government bodies such as HMRC and border force Competency with the trade tariff and understanding tariff preferences Covering weekend clearances if necessary. (bank holidays paid at overtime rate) 

Profile

Good organisational, IT and communication skills. Intermediate use of MS Office Packages – preferred Ability to focus on identifying and meeting customer's needs (internal and external) Ability to think and act across boundaries ( between processes and departments) Contributes new ideas and is happy to challenge the status quo Challenges self to continually improve in role Good communication skills both individually and to internal/external customers Be aware of Health and Safety standards, along with a high understanding of dignity and diversity in the workplace. Have a methodical and organised approach to work with the ability to think ahead and prioritise tasks. One to two years of customs knowledge and experience preferred Numeracy and literacy skills essential
