Job summary

The Driver Cleaners are responsible for ensuring the vehicles are collected and delivered to places of maintenance and repair and back to their Operational location according to plan in a timely manner with minimum disruption to Operations.

Main duties of the job

The Driver Cleaners are responsible for ensuring the vehicles are collected and delivered to places of maintenance and repair and back to their Operational location according to plan in a timely manner with minimum disruption to Operations.

To ensure vehicles in their location are clean and presented at the highest standards. The Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust operates a Fleet of 925 vehicles, comprising of Accident and Emergency Ambulances, Rapid Response Vehicles, Patient Care Services vehicles and specialist response vehicles.

Vehicles are maintained and repaired through a combination of in-house workshops and third party suppliers. The in-house workshops are located in South East and North Wales, the vehicles based in Central and West and parts of South East areas are maintained predominantly by third party suppliers.

All accident repair work is undertaken by approved accident and repair Centres throughout Wales.

The post holder will be required to carry out the collection and delivery of vehicles and parts to and from Ambulance stations, workshops, suppliers and other locations as required.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential

Literacy and Numeracy level 2 Full driving license with a maximum of 3 points Must have C1 Category

Desirable

5 GCSE C or above D1 Category on driving license

Experience

Essential

Experience of driving a varied range of vehicles Experience of cleaning vehicles or equipment

Desirable

Previous experience of infection control/cleaning Experience of managing a stock control system Experience of driving light commercial vehicles. History of working within the motor trade/engineering or Ambulance service. Working knowledge of Health and Safety requirements including Risk assessments and COSHH assessments. Experience of dealing with customers in the retail Motor Trade
