About the role.

Malvern Panalytical's R&D function drives business growth by delivering customer-focused products and services to a wide variety of markets. You willrepresent the pinnacle of the technical scientific career path within the R&D Physical Centre of Excellence, as a key member of CoE leadership team you will champion the voice of the wider development scientists and application development scientists. 

In collaboration with the COE leadership team, you will provide science and technology leadership to the Physical CoE teams and external partners, driving ownership and accountability and enabling consistent, collaborative delivery of platforms and products. 

You will leverage your considerable experience in science, technology, external collaborations, leadership, and coaching, to enable our highly skilled teams to build a high-performance learning culture, forward-looking, promoting diversity and inclusion and driving the use of the latest tools and technology. 

You will collaborate with the R&D Corporate Scientist and Technology Scouting Unit Director to ensure technology exploration is aligned with business objectives and related customer problems, fostering relationships across the global R&D community and wider business to help feed cutting edge technology into our product development teams.

What you will bring to the role.

Foster relationships across our disciplines, functions, and groups to ensure R&D technology roadmaps align with global business objectives.

Work with our R&D leaders to deliver continuous improvement of Platform and Product development strategy across functions.

Champion the effective use and evolution of our NVI process toolbox.

Represent the voice of our wider development scientists and application development scientists within strategy discussions.

Evaluate potential merger and acquisitions, conducting due diligence and presenting recommendations to senior leadership.

Work with our R&D leaders to develop a robust science talent pipeline by guiding recruitment, learning practices, and supporting leaders and individuals in career progression, ensuring sustainability of development and wellbeing.

About you.

Comfortable with technology exploration, strong analytical and research skills

Have the ability the right conversations, translating technical content for a non-technical audience and vice-versa, excellent communication and presentation skills.

Experience of leadership, mentoring and coaching in a development environment.

Understanding and experience of the concepts of product development life cycle.

Experience working alongside 3rd party development partners / design houses and leading projects in a technical capacity. 

Growth mindset, open to new thinking with a can-do attitude.
