Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to train as a Dental Nurse, in one of the largest NHS trusts in England. The Dental Nurse Training programme at Barts Health provides hands on Dental Nursing experience, a salary and an opportunity to gain a qualification whilst you work.
Barts Health NHS Trust Dental Nurse Training & Education are currently recruiting for 6 Trainee Dental Nurses to commence training for the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses Diploma in Dental Nursing qualification in February 2025.
The course is a blend of theoretical and clinical practice, whereby you are employed within the Trust as a Trainee Dental Nurse for 37.5 hours a week on a Band 3 salary. This is for a fixed term contract of 12 months. This typically equates to 4 days where you will be working clinically in one of the dental departments within the dental hospital at Whitechapel, or in one of our outreach sites.
One day a week will be dedicated to theoretical training.
The training will be delivered by Barts Health Dental Nurse Training & Education Centre’s team of experienced Dental Nurse Tutors at Barts Health Dental Hospital.
Trainee Dental Nurses joining Barts Health become part of our well established Dental Nursing team, and have the opportunity to work amongst our multi-disciplinary teams in various specialities at our Dental Hospital and Outreach clinics.
On completion of training and successful completion of the NEBDN National Diploma examinations, Trainee Dental Nurses will qualify as a Dental Nurse and be able to register with the General Dental Council.
Whoever you are, whatever your background - if you want to develop a career in a professional occupation, this is a great place to start.
To be considered for this position you must be 16 years of age or older, have obtained GCSE’s at grade C/level 4 or above in Mathematics and English (or equivalent), completed the application satisfactorily, expressing a keen interest in becoming a Dental Nurse and developing this as a career. (Please refer to the job description for additional criteria).
Main duties of the job
The posts focus is to gain theoretical knowledge and clinical experience, whilst under the supervision of qualified members of the dental team, in order to complete the relevant assessments and prescribed examinations leading to achievement of a registrable Dental Nursing qualification.
