Wokingham Borough Council has an exciting opportunity available for a Revenue Inspector to join our team on a full time, permanent basis.

As the Revenue Inspector, you will play an integral role in the inspections of domestic and business properties throughout the borough, to assist in the maintenance of up to date and accurate records so that all tax liabilities are correctly billed and collected in accordance with service performance targets for Council Tax and Business Rates.

The team is responsible for maximising income collection while giving the right guidance and support to our residents across the borough.

Key responsibilities:

To inspect domestic and commercial properties on a daily basis Make decisions based upon information obtained during those inspections Provide information and advice to external customers using your knowledge of council tax and business rates legislation Monitor newly developed properties, liaise with site managers and serve completion notices Ability to drive and possess a clean driving licence and have use of own car on a daily basis To be able to deal with potentially violent, abusive and uncooperative customers

Candidate requirements:

Previous experience of Council Tax and Business Rates Ability to work alone manage a varied workload Ability to multi-task and work under pressure Excellent Organisational skills To be compassionate, empathetic and understanding
