Our end goal is to ensure children have a fun and safe time during their summer holidays with us

This is a full-time hybrid role and includes home working, office working (in the heart of Brighton), and some travel within the Southeast region. Regular visits to camps when operating will be required for this role to support with safeguarding concerns and observations, children’s challenging behaviour and trial days.

The person in this role will be working closely with Head of Safeguarding, Safeguarding and Wellbeing Advisor, Area Managers, Camp Managers, Customer Experience Team, and others within Inspiring Learning to ensure that safeguarding at Camp Beaumont is at the highest standard, children with SEND are safe and engaged, and staff at Camp Beaumont supported. 

Key role responsibilities and accountabilities

Provide expert advice and guidance to Camp Managers to ensure early identification of safeguarding issues and appropriate actions to be taken. Respond positively and effectively to routine queries received by the Safeguarding team [by phone or email]. Develop plans to tackle safeguarding incidents and manage cases through to completion. Responsible for keeping a record of reported incidents, actions, and resolutions to maintain a history for children and staff. Required to travel to Camp Beaumont locations to conduct Safeguarding Observations and to offer support to the teams where required. Communicating with parents/carers and queries relating to safeguarding and SEND where appropriate and liaise with Area Managers to support response to customer complaints in this subject. Ensuring that policies and procedures are in line with the latest governmental SEN policies and regulations. Provide advice to parents regarding required 1:1 support and where they can apply for the help. Responsible for ensuring that appropriate actions are taken and recorded when concerns are raised, and support provided when liaising with external agencies.

Typical knowledge, skills, and experience

A full UK driving licence Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children with SEND  Experience in a customer service based role Excellent verbal and written communication skills  Qualified/Experienced with children who have unique and challenging requirements  Ability to provide strategies and diffuse challenging situations  Good Knowledge local and national SEN policies, including the UKs Equality Act 2010 Good knowledge of the SEND code of practice  Ability to adapt communication style to suit the needs of the children you are working with  Able to work supportively as a team member and able to take own initiative Experience and understanding of safeguarding (desirable)  Knowledge surrounding Trauma Informed Practice (desirable) Qualified Teacher Status (preferred)
