The Digital Catapult Finance Team has an opening for an ambitious Finance Business Partner to join our team on a Fixed Term Contract for 6 months based in London, King’s Cross. The Finance Business Partner will work closely with Project Managers and support them with financial forecasting, timely & accurate reporting whilst helping to manage spend within budget.

We are looking for a smart and creative Finance Business Partner with excellent communications skills to own the monthly forecasting cycle, improve forecasting and reporting structures and to provide enhanced business insights, while ensuring the highest level of financial controllership. The role will act as a bridge between the operational business and the Finance function.

This role is suitable for a professionally qualified candidate with prior business partnering, financial analysis or FP&A experience. It is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing, fast paced organisation that is at the forefront of the digital technology sector.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong financial and analytical acumen, comfortable with ambiguity and possess the ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organisation.

Digital Catapult has a hybrid working model, and in addition to working from home you will also be expected to attend the office around 2-3 days a week, depending on certain meetings to attend, build relationships, etc.

What You’ll Do (Duties)

  • Business partner with the Project Managers and the broader Programme Delivery Team to provide support with financial forecasting and reporting.
  • Own the monthly forecasting and reporting cycle.
  • Develop and improve forecasting and reporting structures that capture the financial complexity of large-scale projects with multiple workstreams.
  • Provide analytical support on a range of ad-hoc / cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Co-own the monthly preparation and reporting of project P&L actuals together with the Senior Financial Accountant.
  • Continuously assess and improve the effectiveness of processes and tools in our growing organisation.
  • Maintain the highest level of financial controllership.

Requirements

  • Professional qualification (CIMA/ACA/ACCA etc.) with relevant PQE in finance business partnering, financial analysis or FP&A.
  • Strong analytical & financial modelling skills, with excellent attention to detail. 
  • Ability to deliver to deadlines within a fast paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Strong interpersonal / communication skills, both verbal and written. Able to communicate effectively and engage constructively with non-finance colleagues at all levels across different departments.
  • Strong experience using standard software including Excel, PowerPoint, knowledge of accounting systems such as SAP desirable.
  • A self-starter that enjoys taking initiative and has a desire to exceed expectations.
  • Monitors and maintains financial records in line with requirements for compliance and audit. Assists with identifying and calculating process, service, project and component costs for financial planning and budgeting. Collates financial data and reports for analysis and to facilitate decision-making.
  • Builds trusted relationships across all levels of the organisation. Deals with problems and issues, managing resolutions. Collects and uses feedback from stakeholders to help measure effectiveness.
  • Conducts advanced modelling activities for significant change programmes and across multiple business functions. Plans own modelling activities, selecting appropriate techniques and the correct level of detail for meeting assigned objectives. May contribute to discussions about the choice of modelling approach.
