SEND Teaching Assistant

I am working with a school in Halton who are in need of a Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role is working Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 3.30pm and will be on going from September.

The school provide education and support to secondary aged students with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). The school is made up of a number of inside and and outdoor classrooms, including forest school, sensory room and a well equipped sports hall. Staff work closely with parents in order to encourage students to be as independent as possible. The school run a number of fundraising events in order to be able to take students to residential trips, the staff are dedicated to ensuring all students get the most from their time in educatiion.

As the successful applicant, you will be expected to have the skills and confidence to work accross all classrooms, where needs may vary. You will be expected to work with the class teacher and other support staff to provide a safe and stimulating work enviornment for all students, regardless of their ability. As the school promote outdoor learning, you will be required to work out doors assisting students in forest schools. There may also be occassions you are required to work on a 2:1 basis, invigilate exams and attend school trips. You will be expected to liaise with parents and health care professionals and may even be required to contribute to Education Health Care Plans. You must be competent in providing intimate care to students.
