PrincipalResponsibilities:
- Provide ahigh standard of direct nursing care to service users based on theassessment of care needs and in consultation with the service userstheir relatives and the careteam.
- Assumeresponsibility for the nursing services provided by thehome.
- Continuouslyevaluate the quality of care given and regularly reassess the needsof service users in consultation with the service users theirrelatives and the care team and to effect change required toachieve plannedgoals.
- Ensurethat residents are always well safeguarded from abuse and neglectand that safeguarding policies are fully implemented alongsidethose on health and safety and infectioncontrol.
- Administerand order medicines as required by service users and the home spolicies andprocedures.
- Liaisewith service users GPs and other healthcare professional involvedsuch as occupational therapists physiotherapists community nursesetc.
- Engagein nurse care planning and implementation of careplans.
- Workwithin the NMC codes of conduct and Scope of Practice and withinthe homes policies andprocedures.
- Continuouslyreview their own nursing practices to develop new skills andknowledge through continuous professional development training thatcontribute to the enhancement of patient careskills.
- Workclosely with other members of the care team ensuring that effectivehighquality care is given to achieve plannedgoals.
- Providesupport and professional supervision to care staff and nursingassistants asappropriate.
- Attendand participate in relevant staffmeetings.
- Makeeffective and efficient use of all the home sresources.
- Workin partnership with service users families and friends in planningimplementing and reviewing careplans.
- Enableservice users to receive appropriate religious cultural emotionaland psychologicalsupport.

SKILLS REQUIRED: Proficient Written Skills: Maintain all careplans/care records per the service s policy Leadership Skills:Ability to induct and orientate new employees to the job role andservice Support service users/assist as they accomplish dailytasks, including bathing, eating, dressing, grooming and using thebathroom and communicate any problems, concerns or changes toservice users family members as needed Communication Skills: Carersmust build a rapport with service users by establishing personalconnections and showing an interest in their lives Carers must beable to communicate effectively with service users and have thecommunication skills to inform colleagues, management andprofessionals about the needs of service users Problem-SolvingSkills: Carers need to be able to adapt to and address situationsquickly Plan, develop, implement and assess approaches to promotehealth and well-being whilst recognising and reporting situationswhere there might be a need for protection.
