As an Estimating Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the estimating team and ensuring accurate and timely responses to client enquiries.

Responsibilities:
  • Receive and review incoming enquiries from clients, architects, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely acknowledgment of enquiries and maintain effective communication with relevant parties to gather additional information as required.
  • Collaborate with the estimating team to analyse project requirements and assist in the preparation of estimates and tenders.
  • Conduct research and gather necessary data, including pricing information, material costs, labor rates, and subcontractor quotes.
  • Prepare and assemble documents, drawings, and specifications required for the estimating process.
  • Review and interpret project plans, drawings, and technical documents, identifying any inconsistencies or potential issues.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate and competitive pricing for materials and services.
  • Assist in the organisation and tracking of estimating documents, ensuring all information is up-to-date and readily accessible.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, such as project managers, engineers, and procurement teams, to gather relevant information and ensure alignment throughout the estimating process.
  • Support the Estimating Manager in preparing and submitting tender packages or proposals within specified deadlines.
  • Maintain a comprehensive and updated database of supplier and subcontractor information, ensuring accuracy of contact details, pricing records, and performance evaluations.

Requirements:
  • Relevant experience in construction estimating or an administrative role within the construction industry.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing and preparing project documentation.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple enquiries and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Sound knowledge of construction materials, trade practices, and industry-specific estimating processes.
  • Familiarity with construction software, such as estimating tools or project management systems, is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Self-motivated and proactive mindset, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically to assist in overcoming estimating challenges.
  • A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately.
