Building Services Officer

As a BSO, you will work alongside colleagues to undertake maintenance, repair, security, and groundskeeping tasks, contributing to the overall well-being of our facility and its occupants. This role offers a dynamic work environment across various campuses, with responsibilities including janitorial duties, statutory compliance, security, and performance reporting.

Key Responsibilities- Work as part of a team to provide a range of building services, including maintenance duties, security duties, and general caretaking duties to ensure a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors.
- Undertake janitorial duties, ensuring works are undertaken within agreed service level objectives and that building opening times meet the needs of the business.
- Work under the direction of the Facilities Services Manager to ensure College buildings are compliant with statutory regulation and legal requirements and maintain associated documentation.
- Undertake security duties to ensure the safety of staff, students, and visitors, utilising agreed mechanisms for reporting issues.
- Utilise the College Helpdesk solution to ensure the timely completion of works, identifying service bottlenecks and hot spots and address accordingly.
- Take part in a rota to ensure that access to the building meets the needs of the business.
Desirable Criteria
- SIA training/qualification/licence
- Health & Safety Awareness training/qualification
- NVQ Level 2 in any maintenance related trade
- Previous experience in a similar role in a school / college / facilities management environment
- Previous experience with compliance testing works.
- Experience of using CCTV systems and downloading images in accordance with the Data Protection Act
- Experience of incident management and liaison with Police, Fire Brigade and other external bodies in relation to enquiries
