Haigh Architects is one of Cumbria’s leading architectural practices, renowned in the field of historic buildings and creative design of new buildings in sensitive locations. We currently employ 4 people in Kendal which lies in the foothills of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks. The area offers an unrivalled quality of life with access to the great outdoors and travel links.

Job Purpose

This role is aimed at an experienced individual who is able to assist with the delivery of the practice’s expanding portfolio in the private residential, hospitality and commercial sectors. Many of our projects have a particular focus on conservation and the sustainability of both historic and new buildings.

The role would suit a motivated individual who has a passion for creative design in rural locations, a sound understanding of project management and technical detailing for working with traditional and historic buildings.

Essential Skills & Experience

Strong academic record gained from an RIBA recognised university/ architectural school. Fully Qualified, ARB Registered Architect. A minimum of 2 years post-Part 3 experience gained within a UK-based Practice. Highly organised and pro-active, with an ability to work on multiple projects. Detailed knowledge and a genuine interest in architectural history, building conservation and traditional building techniques. Detailed knowledge of the UK Building Regulations. Excellent 2D & 3D CAD skills. Ideally an experienced Vectorworks user, however training and support will be provided.

Desired Skills & Experience

Qualification as a Conservation Architect with experience in running projects involving listed and other historic buildings. Experience in private residential, hospitality and commercial sectors in the UK. Excellent graphic and presentation skills using Adobe Suite of softwares (Photoshop & InDesign).
