Location: Boston
Salary: £83.33 - £90.00 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and experienced Autism Specialist to join their team at a school in Boston. This role is crucial in providing targeted support and interventions for students with autism, ensuring they receive a quality education tailored to their needs. Every student will feel appreciated and empowered in an inclusive learning environment owing to significant measures to your efforts.

The Role:

As an Autism Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with autism spectrum disorder and helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their educational goals. This position involves working closely with students, teachers and other support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. You will play a key role in ensuring that each child feels valued and supported in their educational journey.

Responsibilities of the Autism Specialist:

  • Develop and implement personalised support plans for students with autism, addressing their unique educational and developmental needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to adapt the curriculum and create inclusive classroom environments.
  • Regularly assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and adjusting support strategies as needed.
  • Provide training and support to teaching staff and parents on best practices for working with students with autism.
  • Foster a supportive and understanding atmosphere that encourages students to achieve their full potential.

Autism Specialist Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with students with autism in an educational setting.
  • A relevant degree or qualification in Special Education, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Advanced training in Autism Spectrum Disorders is highly desirable.
  • Profound knowledge of Autism along with management strategies for Autism and SEN will be advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
  • Flexibility and creativity in developing strategies to meet the diverse needs of students with autism.
  • A deep commitment to improving the educational outcomes and well-being of students with autism.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
