Description

Receive, assistand direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcareprofessional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

Provide generalassistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image topatients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

Job responsibilities:

Administration

To have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures To work in accordance of written protocols Pulling/filing notes for surgeries and updating as necessary Filing post in medical records Fax and photocopy as requested

Reception

Receiving patients, consulting with members of practice team Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address. Be able to cover all reception position as necessary

Appointments

Process appointment requests for today/future appointments from patients by telephone and in person. Deal with visits/requests

Computer

Registrations of new patients computer data entry and medical records Process patients changes of address computer data and medical records (have knowledge of practice area) Summarising of patient record paper notes Scanning of documents and allocating the workload to clinicians.

Telephone

Have working knowledge of telephone/bleep system, during and after hours Cover for telephonist when necessary

OtherTasks

Clear rooms after surgeries Ensure building security have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm Any other tasks allocated by managers

Job Summary: Prescription Clerk Role (ad-hoc cover of annual leave /sick leave)

To act as a focal point of communication between the GPs, receptionist,practice manager, patients and local chemist, as well as other members of theprimary health care team, to ensure patients repeat medication is producedwithin the current protocols of the surgery.

Job responsibilities:

To process, all repeat medication requests sent in by patients using thevarious protocols in place {this will vary from practice to practice}

To print off repeat medication requests from the surgery website at least twice daily. To collect repeat prescription requests from the fax machine, post box and reception. To liaise with patients and chemists regarding queries and requests. To ensure repeat medication is issued in line with the protocols that are already in place, and ensure that any queries raised are dealt with quickly and correctly. To ensure that patient queries on medication are highlighted to the relevant GP To regularly go through prescriptions not picked up and unlikely to be picked up as a result of the timescale, to remove the details from the patient records and then destroy the prescription Add medication onto repeat medication list or issue acute prescriptions from action points from correspondence from external care settings, GPs and nurses within the surgery Liaise with GP and Nurses with queries Postage of end of month FP10s Running monthly and quarterly reports for end of month figures, coils, implants and claim any monies that would be owed from the report. Monthly stock check on medication in the surgery, order more stock when required Order medication for the nurses when required
