Job summary

Rheumatology services in East Kent Hospitals University NHSTrust are delivered on three main sites (WHH, KCH & QEQMH)as well as at community Outpatient clinics at Dover, Folkestoneand Estuary View, Whitstable. General rheumatology servicesare provided. The department is now a designated specializedrheumatology centre, enabling local, rapid treatment ofpatients with lupus and vasculitis with NHS England approvedtreatments. There are regular multidisciplinary rheumatologyand vasculitis MDTs.

Main duties of the job

We offer removal expenses, up to 32 days' annual leave andactive support for study, quality improvement and patientsafety work as part of our 'We care' improvement journey, andmedical education and research.

Job responsibilities

This is a full-time post for a Consultant appointee will work in collaboration with the other Rheumatologists in the Trust. This will be deliveringinpatient and outpatient rheumatology services to the local population in East Kent Hospital UniversityFoundation Trust, to share facilities and provide continuity to patients and staff and deliver high standards ofcare.

Person Specification

Qualifications and training

Essential

MRCP or Equivalent Full GMC Registration Specialist Registration or will join the specialist register within 6 months of interview

Desirable

Higher degree PhD or MD In depth expertise in at least one specialist field Specialty Specific qualifications

Skills and experience

Essential

Teaching experience/willingness to teach medical, nursing and other staff

Clinical governance

Essential

Experience of Audit Understanding of clinical incident reporting & risk management Evidence of participation in annual appraisal

Desirable

Experience of service improvement Previous involvement in education & training Interest in research & development

Personal/professional attributes
