0.9 (ie 4 .5 days) fixed term sessions within Islington CAMHS Neurodevelopmental Team.

We are looking for proactive, creative and highly skilled colleagues to join a dynamic multi disciplinary neurodevelopmental diagnostic service for CYP age 5-18 years. The successful applicant(s) will be passionate about promoting a holistic and neuroaffirmative, strength based approach to the process of assessment and diagnosis of autism and adhd, and associated conditions, and reaching vulnerable families in our borough.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Borough

Islington is a wonderfully diverse borough. Despite its relatively small size it is densely populated with a resident child population of 40,000, which is about 20% of the total population. The borough is a varied community with extremes of affluence and poverty. There is a broad cultural mix from a range of ethnic minority groups.

The Post

The post will involve leading and contributing to multi disciplinary assessments of autism, adhd and associated/overlapping conditions.

The NDT provides holistic assessments within a strong multi disciplinary framework which includes clinical psychology, psychiatry, paediatrics, speech and language therapy, family therapy and occupational therapy. Other opportunities could include: supporting and supervising of junior staff; contributing to the programme of post diagnostic support in the form of parent webinars and a young person's group; contributing to service developments and Quality improvement projects.

Essential criteria

Post-graduate/doctoral level qualification in Clinical psychology, family and systemic psychotherapy or child and adolescent psychotherapy as recognised by HCPC/DOH/UKCP/ACP or other recognised professional registering bodies

Essential criteria

Able to confidently and competently take a generic developmental history. Ability to engage Children, YP and families with compassion and professionalism Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication Skills in the assessment of clinical risk and safeguarding concerns. Strong report writing skills; able to use Word and Excel and analyse/present basic data Competent in the use of clinical recording systems such as RiO Able to use email to support effective communication in line with Trust policy

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria

Understands the importance of assessment that explores and considers individual cultural identity and associated support needs. Able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, actively engaging in and supporting rotas, peer support, training and skills development Able to build strong partnerships with external agencies and develop effective joint planning and support arrangements Understands the process for keeping safe, secure and relevant clinical records Experience of working with children in a mental health or neurodevelopmental context. Experience of carrying out assessment and formulation for children and young people. Experience of screening for neurodevelopmental conditions.
