Job summary

Liberty Care provides therapeutic andprogressive supported living placements to adults with learning disabilities,psychological needs, mental health issues, physical health disabilities,sensory impairments and behaviours that challenge, providing a competent staffteam and supported living schemes through South East Wales. The Assistant Psychologist will work acrossall the services that Liberty care provide depending on the clinical needs ofindividuals at that time. This willinvolve working with the individuals who present with the most significantbehaviours that challenge or mental health difficulties within liberty care

Main duties of the job

To support and enhance the psychological input to service users within Liberty Care. Key responsibilities will include

Undertaking psychological assessments and interventions under the supervision of the Clinical Psychologist. Supporting the Clinical Psychologist and other Liberty care staff to undertake teaching and training. Supporting the Clinical Psychologist and other Liberty care staff to undertake clinically relevant research, service evaluation and audit. To carry out other duties as agreed with the Clinical Psychologist Managers.

Job responsibilities

Undertake psychological assessments usinginterview techniques, psychometric assessments, functional analyses andstructured interview/questionnaire

Analyse data and use computerfacilities to graphical present results from psychological assessments

Contribute to and prepare clinical reports outlining the progress of work withservice users and obtain a Clinical Psychologists counter signature on suchreports.

Undertake individual therapeutic interventions

Support the Clinical Psychologist in preparing material for psychologicalassessments, interventions and service delivery.

Prepare teaching materials for theprovision of training to other professional staff and agencies.

Assist in the provision of training in the use of psychological approaches toother professional staff and agencies.

Participate in clinically relevant research,service evaluation and audit projects

Responsible for administrative tasks relating tocase-work including keeping case notes and preparing written reports in linewith the Policies and Procedures of the BPS and other guidance.

Managediary to ensure competent time management and completion of clinical work,research, professional development and attendance at meetings.

Team work and MDT working. Ability to communicate (verbally and written) and relate to others in situations that can be complex. Ability to plan and organise own workload. Must be capable of using initiative and working independently. Must be able to use supervision appropriately in order to agree and review goals. Competent word processing skills. Ability to use a range of IT skills, for example, statistical packages, graphic packages and databases

Desirable

Previous work as an Assistant Psychologist. Previous work with people with a learning disability.

Qualifications

Essential

Good honours degree in Psychology (First or Second Class). Eligibility for Graduate Membership of the BPS/ HPC

Experience
