Job summary

Part time 30 hours per week.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior MedicalSecretary to join the Division of Medicine within The Rotherham FoundationTrust Hospital.

The successful candidate will provide a vital and dynamic Senior MedicalSecretary role within General Medicine. You will manage and develop a responsive administration service havingresponsibility for the day-to-day management of the General Medicineadministrative teams, including annual appraisals, annual leave, sicknessmanagement and adherence to Trust HR policies and procedures.The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about the challenges of a busyworking and constantly changing environment, with the ability to remain calmunder pressure and to achieve strict deadlines. You will be a highly motivatedindividual, with the ability to motivate and influence others, suggest andimplement ideas to improve team performance and efficiency and will haveexcellent communication skills.

This is a 30 hour role that can be spread over 4 or 5 days, the non-working dayis negotiable.

Main duties of the job

Promoting data quality processes and a right first timeapproach. To be responsible for day to day line management of administration staff includingreceptionists, ward clerks and divisional secretaries to include but notlimited to: approving timesheets, recruitment and selection, to ensure workingenvironments comply with health & safety legislation, staff inductions,annual leave, rota management and general day to day staff management asneeded. To motivate colleagues and champion service improvement for the division.

Experience

Essential

Experience of a range of secretarial processes Audio-typing experience Experience of working with members of the public, including dealing with difficult customers Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team

Desirable

Experience of staff supervision Experience of working in a healthcare environment and/or patient care Experience of using hospital EPR systems Experience of different audio typing systems

Qualifications

Essential

Good standard of GCSE or equivalent level education including English Grade C, or equivalent and Maths Grade C or equivalent RSA Level 3 typing/word processing or equivalent qualification and experience

Desirable

NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent knowledge acquired through experience

Knowledge

Essential
