Job Summary

The Head of Plumbing will seek to exceed Prestige’s customer’s expectations, by managing and overseeing 1st and 2nd fix installations of domestic plumbing works, whilst ensuring high levels of quality, compliance and productivity are constantly maintained. To work with Design and Technical teams to ensure home designs are complaint with up-to-date plumbing regulations.

To work with other Managers to make the best use of the resources available. Lead and motivate a team of Plumbing Production Operatives to achieve clearly set Production goals. Delegate tasks and set deadlines, overseeing the day-to-day operation, identifying and solving any production issues efficiently and effectively so as to maintain production schedules. Monitor team performance and report on metrics. Discover training needs and provide coaching and performance management where required, recognising high performance and rewarding accomplishments. Manufacturing

To be the business’ Gas Safe Registered Engineer. Initiate plans and processes to minimise manufacturing costs through effective specifications and processes. Strive to reduce production times and reduce waste by constantly reviewing, assembly methods and supporting new product trials. Manage non-conformance reports related to plumbing issues and promptly resolve with the plumbing production operatives. Manage Materials:Ensuring the best use of the materials availableManaging wasteRecording usage when requiredOrdering parts on the Pick ManagerIdentifying shortages in a timely mannerChase outstanding shortagesManaging excess stock correctly Assist with CNC, CAD, BOMs processes as appropriate.  Liaise with the Design and Technical departments to develop design changes, to improve manufacturing efficiency, managing non-conformance reports related to manufacturing issues and promptly resolve production issues, with the Customer Care team and the Design, Technical and Procurement teams. Advise relevant senior team members of any delays affecting customer deliveries and any events that impact together with suggested solutions to resolve such instances. Implement, enforce and analyse quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives and maintain high standards of production to avoid, detect and correct problems. Review space and location management to boost production capacity. Enable the production team to be focused on delivering excellent customer service, quality and value; ensuring that all work is carried out to the required quality standards and to take the necessary action when those standards are not met. Attend management meetings as required. Implement changes to the build drive by any Variations of Contract (VOC Memos) as and when necessary Maintain the company’s expected level of service delivery at all times to internal and external customers and remain committed to customer service excellence.

Health & Safety

To ensure equipment is regularly maintained, is in good working order and is being used safely for the purpose for which it was designed. To identify process improvements and suggest recommendations. To champion 5S and clean as you go policy.  Ensure safe working practices are maintained and current legislation adhered to Comply with company health and safety policy and procedure. Maintain good housekeeping standards and improve where necessary.

Qualifications

NVQ Level 3 Plumbing and Heating qualification  Gas Safe Registered (CCN1) LPG appliance installation certificate. G3 certified – Unvented Hot Water Storage Systems  BS3632 Mobile Home Regs knowledge; Water Regulations (1999) certification. Educated with a formal qualification in Management.

Experience and Knowledge

Technical knowledge and a proven track record in plumbing installation; Technical knowledge of the legal framework regarding Natural Gas and LPG appliance installations;  Technical knowledge of the legal framework regarding Unvented Hot Water Storage System installations;  Industry experience and background; Health & Safety knowledge and experience; Understanding of Lean Manufacturing / CI. Experience working with Microsoft Office software (specifically Word and Excel).
