Our internship programme has led to theoffering of permanent and fulltime associate consultantpositions toour interns inand 2023. We are delighted to continue this in 2024and startthe search for our next Intern.

As anintern you will work with and support HAMERKOPs consultants withresearch and analyses inrelation to prefeasibility feasibilityimpact certification and monitoring of climate changemitigationprojects eligible to carbon financing mechanisms; as wellas more policyoriented and institutionalresearch. Most projects aretaking place in the context of natural ecosystems (e.g.forestconservation reforestation mangroves etc.) energy access(cooking and drinking water)occasionality other sectors and supportinternational development in SubSaharan Africa SoutheastAsia andincreasingly in South America.

The majority ofHAMERKOPs clients and partners are private project developers andfinancialsponsors international NGOs startups carbon trading desksand internationaldevelopmentagencies.

Youwill be expected to support a range of tasks that caninclude:

Research on current andupcoming trends and hot topics: regulatory and governancechanges(e.g. ICVCM Art. 6 COP 29); review and change in the carboncertification standards landscape;the rise of carbon certificationstandard labels (e.g. ABACUS CORSIA CA SDGs etc.); thepotential ofnatural assisted generation to benefit from carbon finance; thejungle ofintermediaries and procurement challenges on the VCM; theuse of digital monitoring reportingand verification technologiesetc.
Technical consulting work: emission reductioncalculation monitoring and data analysis draftingof technicalreports analysis of developing legislation carbon finance projecteligibilityassessment among others.
Others: supportingeducation material drafting implementing of team workimprovementmeasures etc.

Candidatedesired skills andknowledge
Required
BSc or Masters degree in a technical or quantitative field relatedto climate change andenvironmental sciences (e.g. conservationforestry agriculture marine ecologyenergygeospatialanalysis)
Attention to detail strong analytical andproblemsolving skills and ability to produce well presentederrorfree results and reports
Curious and keen tolearn
Excellent organisational skills with the ability towork autonomously
Good verbal and written communicationskills
Willing to support a small but growing andpurposedriven consulting firm
Spoken and written fluencyin English
No previous knowledge of finance isrequired

Desired
Knowledge of climate change forestry and agriculture issues in thecontext of developingcountries gained through a previous exposureor experience in a related subject
Spoken and writtenfluency in French
Prior exposure to greenhouse gasemission accounting notably in the natural environment aspart of aresearch project or a prior internship
Previous exposureor experience supporting or working with a consultingfirm
Advanced knowledge of Word PowerPoint andExcel

Location
Ouroffice is in London. Remote working is in operation at HAMERKOP butinterns will be expected tospend 4 days a week at the office withthe team.

Terms ofinternship
This position is for a 4monthfulltime internship although we may consider different periodoftime for university courses requiring a specific internshipperiod
We are currently looking for 2 interns to start inQ2 and Q3 in 2024
The start date of the internship isflexible and could be between April and September 2024depending onthe candidate preference
The candidate must be based inthe UK and/or have the right to intern in the UK
Thecandidate must be on its final study year and willing to stay inLondon as this programme ismeant for students looking for apermanent position after their internship
London LivingWage will be paid to the successfulcandidates
