Job summary

A new and exciting 'Deputy Freedom to Speak Up Guardian' post is available, working with the Lead Freedom to Speak Up Guardian at DHC University NHS Foundation Trust.

This role will enhance the FTSU service we currently offer to 7000 staff as well as to temporary staff.

You will be part of a small friendly team providing specialist knowledge, supporting the Trust to promote an environment in which everyone feels confident and safe to raise a concern; ensuring everyone's voice will be listened to and appropriately followed-up, and to enable the organisation to learn from concerns raised. Contributing to Dorset HealthCare's drive to improving culture, staff experience and high quality patient care.

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced person with a commitment to providing effective and compassionate support and guidance to all workers, engaging with key stakeholders.

You must be able to handle complex, sensitive, and contentious matters, and be able to challenge senior leadership in relation to these, whilst maintaining co-operation and collaboration with colleagues and have the ability to work independently on your own initiative.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication & IT skills. Previous NHS experience is desirable but not essential.

Proven leadership skills following the 9 leadership dimensions of the Healthcare Leadership Model is essential.

The hours can be worked flexibly to meet own needs as well as the needs of the service.

Main duties of the job

Act as an expert and professional resource for Trust colleagues on all aspects of practice relating to the speaking up agenda. Protect patient safety and quality of care. Improve the experience of workers. Promote continuous learning and improvement. Support the Lead Guardian on interpreting and advising on national policy, guidance, and standards on Freedom to Speak up across the Trust. Support the organisation with the 'Well Led' CQC inspections.
