Wehave an exciting opportunity to be part of The Health Minds Team as a qualifiedEducation Mental Health Practitioner. The post holder will work collaborativelywith our education sites across the borough to provide early intervention andpreventative evidence based clinical interventions to children and young peopleto promote resilience and support their emotional wellbeing. The post holderwill be responsible for working in a timely fashion, building positiverelationships with schools, aid in delivering consultation and training, and bea positive and professional role model for the service. The post holder willhave the EMHP qualification and relevant skills in delivering Low IntensityCognitive Behavioural Therapy (LICBT).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to work with their school setting to build and develop a positive mental health ethos through a whole school approach model, and will identify individual needs of the school and work collaboratively to develop and implement an action plan.

The post holder will have specific knowledge and experience of working with children and young people who have mental health difficulties, and ideally have experience of working with schools or within education settings. The post holder will work within the aims and objectives of the Mental Health Support Team set out in the Mental Health Green Paper, and parameters set out by NHS England.

Support children and young peoplewithin an education setting by delivering Low Intensity CBT (LICBT) evidence-basedinterventions in particular around anxiety and low mood.

Delivering programmes of low-leveland preventative support for children and young people in accordance with theirneeds and age.

Deliver evidence based support toparents

Support school professionals withthe provision of advice and consultation around children and young peoplesmental health.

The post holder will havesuccessfully completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Studies in the EducationEnvironment.

TheMental Health Support Team is located within schools across South Tyneside, andany intervention or service will be delivered from schools and other communitybases.

Person Specification

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

Excellent communication skills. Knowledge and experience of safeguarding and the promotion of welfare in children. Ability to work autonomously, with supervision, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Excellent time and caseload management.

Desirable

An understanding of the mental health needs of children, young people and their families. Knowledge of relevant legislation guidance and good practice. Ability to engage vulnerable and hard to reach groups.

Qualifications

Essential

Post graduate certificate in- Educational Mental Health Practitioner

Desirable

Additional post graduate qualification in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, therapeutic training or other relevant area. Recognised teaching certificate.

Experience

Essential

Experience of working to support the mental health needs of children, young people and families.

Desirable

Experience of working within a community context. Experience of multi disciplinary team working. Experience of working collaboratively within a multi-agency context. Experience of teaching or delivering training

Other Requirements

Essential

Good IT skills. Access to transport and ability to travel within the geographical work area. Ability to work in a professional manner with all members of the multi-disciplinary team. Self motivated, enthusiastic, and willing to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
