Job summary

This is an opportunity to work as a Consultant LiaisonPsychiatrist in a 10PA job with the Exeter Liaison Psychiatry Team in DevonPartnership NHS Trust.

The well-established Core 24 model team work with The RoyalDevon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust to provide mental health careto people admitted to the hospital or attending the Emergency Department.

The team are also working into an Integrated PsychologicalMedicine Service in partnership with Talkworks (IAPT), Health Psychology andMedical and Surgical Specialties developing and contributing to care pathwaysfor people with functional and chronic conditions.

The team is established with Multidisciplinaryprofessionals including Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, LiaisonPsychologists, Consultant Psychiatrists and Trainee Doctors.

We work in a modernised setting in the attractive listedbuilding of Wonford House Hospital in central Exeter, within a short minuteswalk to the Acute Hospital entrance and additional designated rooms within theDGH.

Main duties of the job

The role is toprovide senior clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary Liaison Psychiatryservice, engaging in development and clinical leadership in the IntegratedPsychological Medicine Service. The postholder will be expected to engage inthe service governance programme and service improvement projects. The role is wellsupported by all levels of trainee medical staff and there will be provision ofsupervision to these staff and additionally opportunity to engage in teachingand training of medical students. Research interests are encouraged and we havelinks with The University of Exeter and a close connection with our own R&Dteam that we are co-located with at Wonford House Hospital.

Person Specification

Teaching and Supervision

Essential

Experience of teaching undergraduates and postgraduates.

Desirable

Evidence of additional teaching skills. Experience as a lecturer or supervisor. Experience in Clinical Supervision.

Qualifications

Essential

Full Registration with the General Medical Council. To hold Approved Clinician status at the point of taking up post. Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview. Approved under section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.

Desirable

MRC Psych. CCT in Old Age/General Psychiatry. Endorsement in Liaison Psychiatry.

Experience

Essential

Prior experience working in a Multidisciplinary Mental health team. Experience of psychiatric practice in a range of settings, especially in acute inpatient hospital Settings. Experience of audit and an understanding of the principles of clinical governance.

Desirable

Evidence of development of special interest in Hospital or Primary Care based Liaison Psychiatry. Proven commitment to improving the quality of clinical care.
