Applications are invited for the above post which is a 12 month fixed term contract within the Urology Specialty as a HoLEP Fellow. We are looking to commence this post from August 2024. This is an exciting opportunity to join our unit and become another success story from the HoLEP fellowship cohort we have developed from Luton & Dunstable Hospital, Urology Department.

This post will allow a suitably qualified and enthusiastic Urology Surgeon to join an established and progressive Urology Unit that will also support continued development.The successful candidate will have FRCS (Urol) or equivalent and adequate experience in acute Urology Surgery working at Registrar level. All applicants will be required to demonstrate a working knowledge of the English Language. Appropriate registration with the General Medical Council is required at time of application.Although these posts are accepted as out of programme training (BAUS accreditation can be applied for), the successful candidates will receive equivalent training opportunities to those offered to a Specialty Registrar and consideration will be given for study leave. You will have a named educational supervisor throughout your period of appointment.

Main duties of the job

a) The post holder will provide senior middle grade support for Urology with an interest in developing skills in HoLEP Surgery within the elective theatres.

b) The post holder will work with the existing Specialist Registrars and Junior Urology staff that will participate on the Urology on-call rota together with the Urology Consultant and allocated a full day of on-call duties.

c) The post holder will be ultimately responsible to the Clinical Director for Urology, Mr Saleemi.

d) The proposed timetable will be discussed with applicants. This will need to be changed from time to time to respond to the demands of the service.

e) In case of difficulties of any kind, the post holder will seek the advice of the appropriate consultant.
