About the Role:
As a member of the Editorial team, you will spend each day immersed in the private markets, aiming to help our customers be better investors, advisors, and market participants. The work you will do plays a direct role in the evolution of the industry

PitchBook seeks a talented financial journalist for the private equity deals beat. In this high-profile assignment, you’ll be PitchBook’s lead reporter covering the deals and deal-makers in the $3 trillion private equity industry. You’ll keep abreast of the top firms’ portfolios, management teams, and fundraising strategies, providing breaking news and analysis on deals and other notable events in this asset class.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Write several articles a week as needed, comprising short-form and in-depth features, about the dealmaking landscape in private equity Develop and cultivate a network of trusted industry sources Produce insightful and informative analysis and trend pieces, leveraging PitchBook’s proprietary data along with traditional newsgathering methods Report on breaking news as warranted about portfolio companies, private equity firms, and major developments across the industry Typical articles will be analytical and forward-looking, combining traditional reporting with quantitative analysis and a heavy dose of data visualization to bolster the storytelling Write occasional news briefs, commentaries, and other content for PitchBook’s newsletters as needed Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requestedSkills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required At least 3 years of experience in financial journalism, ideally covering the private markets Demonstrated news judgment and the ability to cover the beat at a high caliber Excellent writing, including the ability to establish a narrative based on conceptual and data-focused themes Write clearly and concisely, with minimal rewriting by editors Must be a team player who collaborates across the news team and other departments Able to translate complex financial and tech topics with an engaging and authoritative voice Ability to interview a wide variety of industry professionals, regulators, analysts, and others Competency in building complex data sets and performing robust quantitative analysis Skill in using tools for data-driven storytelling Initiative and ability to pitch and develop your own story topics independently Work well under deadline pressure, sometimes turning out news stories on short notice Ability to travel to industry events and meet in person with professional sources Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including in-depth knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel with the ability to pick up new systems and software easilyBenefits at PitchBook:

Working Conditions:
The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
