About the role

We place a great importance on our people and their development and as part of our commitment to health and safety, especially for our colleagues who have to be mostly on the road, we are looking for a dedicated Operational Logistics Trainer to join our Delivery Operations Training and Development Team. Based predominantly at our Erith site, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality training and driving assessments, helping to reduce occupational road risk and ensuring our employees meet the highest safety standards.

You will:
  • Deliver a variety of classroom training and development sessions, including customer service, manual handling, safe systems of work, and other related workshops.
  • Provide both practical and theory-based driver training to enhance individual risk awareness and driving skills, promoting a positive driver attitude to minimise driver risk.
  • Conduct risk assessments for potential drivers and re-assess existing drivers to ensure their competency and suitability for specific driving duties. Provide detailed and honest feedback on trainee performance and development needs, to help them be aware of their progress and their shortcomings.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of new initiatives related to driver training, road safety, and driver assessments.
  • Complete training reports and assessment summaries promptly and to a high standard. Develop a solid understanding of the Quality Assurance process, including course evaluation, to help the team meet its objectives.

About you:
  • Qualifications: You hold a full, clean current driving licence. Being a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) is highly preferable.
  • Experience: You have experience in light commercial vehicle driver coaching and development. You can assess full licence holders and identify areas for improvement in safety and driving skills.
  • Skills: You have strong IT skills, including proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • You possess excellent interpersonal skills, can motivate a wide range of candidates, and identify specific learning needs in both classroom and on-road environments.
  • Knowledge: You have a thorough understanding of traffic regulations and codes of practice. You also have knowledge of effective design and presentation skills.
  • Feedback: You can provide meaningful, honest feedback to help candidates understand their progress and areas needing improvement.
  • Technical Skills: You have a sound knowledge of current car technology and basic maintenance.
  • Education: A Level 3 Award in Education and Training is preferable.
