Job summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a friendly, caring and motivated individual to join the Trust in the key role of a Porter at the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton. Integral to the smooth running of the hospital and its services, the successful candidate will work as part of a team delivering a comprehensive and patient-focused service. No two days will be the same and you will enjoy the chance to work with a wide range of colleagues, patients and their families as you go about your duties across the hospital site. We'll rely on you to provide a number of crucial services, including patient transfer between wards and departments, moving equipment, mail, case notes, specimens, handling and changing of medical gas cylinders, linen and furniture, waste handling, as required.

Main duties of the job

Will be expected to work on a rotational basis and cover all shifts when required which includes weekends and bank holidays. Provide a professional service to patients, visitors and staff and at all times. To escort the deceased to the mortuary and release bodies were applicable including deceased with barrier nursing, MRSA and other contagious diseases To provide a pleasant and helpful patient escort service throughout the site To maintain a good working relationship with fellow staff. To assist Security where directed To assist in emergency situations when requested, fire, major incident etc. Ad/hoc duties as requested by supervision or management which includes the changing or lowering of the union flag. Complete all necessary mandatory and on the job training required for all new staff

Attend all of the training sessions for the programme whenever necessary.
