Sous Chef

Location: Lincoln

Environment: 4* hotel country hotel and wedding venue

Start Date: Immediate start dates, register with us today to discuss your rotas

Pay rates: from £20 p/h up to £23 p/h - dependant of chef level, & experience.

Shifts: range from day shifts, evenings & weekends - accommodation can be provided too when needed and available from the site

Hours: up to 45 hours per week starting from 11am till 9/10pm finish which are paid weekly every Friday

Contract ongoing full-time position can lead to a permanent position too for the right candidate

We have a beautiful award winning Country House Hotel & wedding venue, located within Lincolnshire looking for additional support in their kitchens during their peak periods. The hotel is home to hosting some of the most romantic weddings as it is surrounded by a picturesque woodland back drop.

This hotel offers a range of comfortable guestrooms, with the most amazing views over the grounds of the nearby golf course. Throughout the year they hold events for special occasions anything from Birthdays, funerals, private functions, conferences plus much more.

You will play a pivotal role by fulfilling the head chef position, to ensure a smooth food service for all the events which are held, along with creating memories for the happy couple on their special day.

The working environment

Every day won't be the same working at this lovely hotel, you will be cooking for events and private functions, along with supporting the restaurant with their daily orders too, working with fresh produce and presenting the most spectacular plates of food for your guests.

You will be required to fulfil the below duties on a daily and weekly basis:

  • Managing the whole kitchen operation from start to finish in the head chef absence
  • Working with local companies to place food orders in the head chef absence
  • Completing regular stock takes
  • Ensure all H&S compliance paperwork is up to date
  • Operate a clean as you always go policy
  • Train and develop future chefs who are wishing to progress
  • Compete rotas for all team members within your brigade
  • Working with the owner & head chef to prepare food menus for the upcoming events and seasonal changes

Requirements and skills:

  • Experience with working and producing food for events, either at weddings or conferences.
  • Previous experience up to Senior chef de partie or Sous chef
  • Experience working within a la carte restaurants, hotel's or Gastro pubs
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Keen eye for detail, must have excellent attention to detail especially when it comes to presentation of the meals.
  • Excellent team player
  • Great communication skills
  • Level 2 food hygiene certificate (ideal but not essential as we can provide this at a cost),
  • food allergen certificates within the last year
  • Passion for food
  • Ability to work under pressure, within a team and alone working.
  • Able to work up to 45 hours per week, covering 5 days out of 7 including weekends
  • Due to the location able to get to the location of Lincolnshire, ideally but own car or transport.
  • Own chef whites and chef knives
  • experience cooking for large numbers for event style businesses & hotels is preferred

Working times and shifts

As you can imagine being a chef does mean you are expected to work days, evenings, weekends and nights. Shifts will be required to work

  • 5 days out of 7 will include weekends
  • Shifts start from 11am till latest 10pm finish

The Commute:

Due to the location of this lovely hotel, they are limited on public transport links, so you would need to drive and have access to your own vehicle.

The hotel is located the following miles from the nearest towns

  • Lincoln - 30 minutes' drive
  • Newark on Trent 48-minute drive
  • Grantham - 50 minutes' drive
  • Melton Mowbray, Radcliffe on Trent & Mansfield are up to 1 hour travel
