Job Summary:

This role may also involve working with the Obstetric team in consultant-led Antenatal clinics and Day Assessment Unit. The job role involves a fast pace of decision-making, autonomous practice, with medical cover when requiring in-depth knowledge of a wide range of antenatal complications and core midwifery assessment skills in Triage.

Description:

The post holder is required to provide holistic midwifery care to women/birthing people and babies in the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods. Midwifery care is provided both in hospital, birth centre, and community settings, including the management of individual caseloads, clients, and/or ward areas.

The role is multidimensional and requires the post holder to integrate and fulfil all the identified dimensions.

Requirements:

  • Valid NMC registration as a Midwife.
  • Knowledge of current evidence-based midwifery practice.
  • Ability to demonstrate competence in fetal monitoring.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of effective management of obstetric emergencies.
  • Ability to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of medicines management.
  • Communication skills - able to relate and communicate with patients and staff at all levels and from different professions. Adapts communication style as needed and can work with and through others.
