Job summary

Receptionist/Telephonist

Main Responsibilities: Welcome and provide assistance to patients entering or telephoning the Practice. Be responsible for opening the surgery in the morning and locking up at night . Make appointments and telephone encounters. Process urgent repeat prescriptions. Chaperone - Provide personal assistance as required by GPs . Have a good working knowledge of EMIS/DART and Docman. Cancel surgeries as required. Adhere at all times to patient Confidentiality, Data Protection and the regulations of Information Governance/GDPR. Answer the hatch in the afternoons and deal with Script queries. Book Interpreters via Big Word as required for deaf patients Help with Reception overtime when required as per Receptionists contract. Ensure any unanswered messages and unfinished tasks are passed on to the next shift of Receptionists to deal with.

Be flexible and willing to cover holidays and sickness

We are looking for a Receptionist/Telephonist to work 24.25hours over 4 days - Monday 7:45 - 1:30pm, Tuesday 1:30 - 8pm, Wednesday 1:30 - 8pm and Friday 1:30-7pm. We offer the NHS Pension Scheme and uniform is supplied.

Main Responsibilities:

Welcomeand provide assistance to patients entering or telephoning the Practice.

Beresponsible for opening the surgery in the morning and locking up at nightensuring all lights are switched off, all windows downstairs and upstairs are closed, all internal doors to rooms arelocked. All air conditioning units turned off. Security alarm to be set whenleaving at night. Checklist to be followed signed and scanned and book signedon Reception to confirm.

Makeappointments and telephone encounters.

Process urgentrepeat prescriptions.

Complete theduty board each day in the general office.

Chaperone - Providepersonal assistance as required by GPs when the latter is undertaking intimateexamination of a patient and ensure Chaperone badge is worn

Empty basket atreception and in the main office and deliver to appropriate offices atlunchtime and evening.

Have a goodworking knowledge of EMIS/DART and Docman

If openingReception undertake a Radio Check in the morning and record in log book

Fileprescriptions and write in chemist book any prescriptions to be collected andpostal prescriptions in the Post book.

Inform patientsof GPs decisions regarding Med 3 requests

Give patients telephone number for them tobook transport themselves.

Take payment for reports, travel advice etc.

When informedof a patients death, inform doctor, put name on deceased board, record as aproblem on EMIS and check patient has no appointments made.

Cancelsurgeries as required

EnsureReception is kept stocked of all appropriate letters, sample bottles etc.

Ensure anyvisitors sign in Visitors Book either at reception or in General Office

In the eveningsTelephone all Childhood Immunisations , 6 week checks, Family Planning, GP Asthma and Learning Disability appointments bookedfor the next day

Adhere at alltimes to patient Confidentiality ,Data Protection and the regulations of InformationGovernance/GDPR

Answer thehatch in the afternoons and deal with Script queries

Photocopying/laminatingduties as required

BookInterpreters via Big Word as required for deaf patients

Help withReception overtime when required as per Receptionists contract.

At the end ofyour shift ensure your work station is tidy and usable for the nextReceptionist.

Ensure anyunanswered messages and unfinished tasks are passed on to the next shift ofReceptionists to deal with

Undertake anyother duties that may be assigned to the receptionist by the Reception orOffice Manager
